Somali Women Human Rights Defenders Network SWHRDN
The Somali Women Human Rights Defenders Network (SWHRDs) is a Network of Somali women and gender-diverse human rights activists dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of women, girls, and marginalized communities across Somalia. The Network brings together grassroots defenders, legal advocates, journalists, and community organizers who work in high-risk and conflict-affected environments to protect human rights and advance gender equality.
Mission Statement
To empower, protect, and amplify the voices of Somali Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) through advocacy, capacity building, emergency support, and strategic solidarity, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where women’s rights and human dignity are respected and upheld.
Vision Statement
A just, inclusive, and peaceful Somalia where all women and girls live free from violence, discrimination, and fear—and where Women Human Rights Defenders can safely and fully participate in shaping society and protecting human rights.
